The 'paint tree', creted by the accumulated paint left over after classes and scraped off onto a post at the old St Mary's Studio, Kangaroo Pt, was removed as much as possible on 28 October 2011. It has followed the Group to its new Studio at Corinda where it is mounted on board and hung on the wall where it continues to grow. It featured in our 70th Anniversary Exhibition in the Circle Gallery in November 2011.

THE HOME OF THE HALF DOZEN GROUP OF ARTISTS Inc
'Montrose Studio' at Montrose Access, is at 54 Consort Street, Corinda, at the southern end of Grace Street. It is settled into the side of the cliff among the trees above the bend in the Brisbane River. We moved in on 1 September 2011. New members, beginners to advanced, continue to join the Group attracted to the ambience of this Studio as well as the comraderie of the artists that work there. The building was named 'Cooinda' when opened in 1979. It means 'happy place'. And so it is.

Making oursleves at home in the Studio -

The Group is now the proud owner of a brand new BBQ sausage sizzler anonymously donated. General Meetings have livened up. Robby helps the chef.

The Saturday morning outdoor painting sessions have started. Nikki and Keith set up at 7.30 am to paint the beauty of the natural surroundings near the Studio. This is Nikki's first outdoor painting experience.

                                       MEMBERS' NOTICE BOARD

SCULPTORS QUEENSLAND   - ANNUAL INDOOR/OUTDOOR EXHIBITION
The public is invited to the 2 pm Opening of this exciting exhibition of sculptures in the Auditiorium and in the gardens at the Mt Coot-tha Botanic Gardens on the weekend 26 and 27 May. Along with the prizes - Shillam Prize, Perides Outdoor Sculpture prize, two Judges' Commendation prizes - there will be the People's Choice and The Art Shed raffle. The exhibitions will be open on Saturday from 10 am - 5 pm, and Sunday from 10 am - 3 pm. All welcome.
